Abstract
Purpose: Transport distraction osteogenesis is widely applied for the reconstruction of alveolar bone defect. This report presents the alveolar transport distraction osteogenesis for the maxilla and mandibular gunshot defects with orthodontic teeth alignment and implant installation.

Materials and Methods: A 20 years old man was referred to our department with a complaint of maxilla and mandibular defect who had tried to commit a suicide with riffle 1 year before. However, the patient injured only his anterior part of the face. The anterior part of the maxilla and mandible was reconstructed with alveolar transport distraction from the both posterior alveolar bone. The teeth on the transported bone were aligned with orthodontic tooth movement during the consolidation period. After 3 months consolidation period, implants were installed with the device removed simultaneously.

Results: The regenerated bone had good quality except the diminished width. The docking site was found to be connected with new bone at the time of implant installation. The prosthodontic restoration was satisfactory. This report shows the clinically successful result of reconstruction of large alveolar gunshot defects with transport distraction osteogenesis.
